Enjoy your great breakfast at hotel and today is spent with a full day comprehensive cultural tour of Saigon. You will discover Vietnam's most exciting and bustling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh on this interesting half day tour. You will visit all interesting sites and landmarks in Saigon City. First stop is Notre Dame Catholic Cathedral which is based on Paris' original monument, the Central Post Office plus the War Remnants Museum. Here at the war museum you will have the chance to gain an intense insight into the war through the eyes of the local people. This tour will also show how Ho Chi Minh is steeped in history with stops at historic landmarks including the former Presidential Palace where Saigon's government ruled from throughout the American war. Break for lunch at famous PHO 2000 and then you will also visit the gorgeous 19th-century temple is dedicated to the goddess Thien Hau, and always attracts a mix of worshippers and visitors who mingle beneath the large coils of incense suspended overhead. On the way coming back to the hotel, you'll spend your free time to hang around Saigon's iconic Ben Thanh market - a great place to buy local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art and other souvenirs. Wake up early morning and you will be transferred to the jetty to join in a group to travel to visit famous Cu Chi tunnels. Enjoy a light snack consisting of sandwiches or pastries, fresh tropical fruits and Vietnamese iced coffee on board your speedboat. This interesting river journey will provide a glimpse of the changing faces of Vietnam – from the glittering skyscrapers and busy commercial centres to green paddy fields and pottery villages dotted along the Saigon River. On arrival you’ll visit the underground Cu Chi tunnels, exploring the tunnel site, which includes weapon and booby trap exhibitions, navigating authentic Viet Cong tunnel, visiting different underground bunkers (kitchens, meeting rooms, ammunitions etc.), a firing range and much more. Try the local cassava root that sustained Viet Cong fighters for years. Enjoy a light lunch on board during your journey back to the city.
At 18:00, you will enjoy a very interesting tour to experience the nightlife of Saigon the way locals do, all from the back of a vintage Vespa scooter. Stops include drinks at Zoom cafe to watch "the world goes by" (as said in the Lonely Planet guide book), food and drinks at local restaurants (one stop for sea food and one stop for Southern food), samplings of Saigon's best authentic street/local food, a Vietnamese-style coffee shop (with live music) and wrapping up the evening at one of the many local nightclubs with live music, where the new generation of Vietnamese unwind and flaunt their unique style. Guests will enjoy and experience the Vietnamese night life with friends.... It's definitely a look at Saigon the way the residents live it -- nothing you'll find in a guidebook. All food and drinks for the evening are included in the tour.
Pick up at your hotel in Saigon at 07:30 and drive to Vinh Long. The excursion starts from Cai Be town pier at around 10.30 am. Upon embarkation on your sampan you will be welcomed by your crew. After your installation the cruise will begin with the visit of Cai Be floating market, cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. We will proceed to Phu An hamlet, an untouched beautiful area reflecting some of the Mekong delta best sights. On the way, stop will be made at some local home factories to observe how rice paste, coconut candies and other regional specialties are made. A delicious lunch will await you at "Le Longanier" restaurant, a superb Indochinese house located by the river, in a lush tropical garden surrounded by fruit plantations. After lunch, your sampan will proceed to Sa Dec cruising the Tien Giang river, one of the two large arms of the Mekong. These evergreen islands among the Mekong River bring about large networks of meandering rivers, criss-crossed with countless arroyos, and remaining unknown to many people. We will then cruise on a small beautiful canal through water jacinth plantations. You will take a small rowing boat for a cruise along a narrow canal passing by a local tiny village and fruit plantations. Further on the banks, some dark smokes in the sky will lead us to one of the largest artisanal bricks and tiles factory where you will have an interesting visit. Sa Dec town will appear like a little “Venice” with numerous narrow canals. You will disembark a the local market place. Before sunset, we will have a very interesting visit at a splendid ancient house or “Nha Co” dating from the early 19th century. After being greeted by the owners, we will cater a candlelight dinner for you, an unforgettable experience in a very unique atmosphere…First night on the Mekong river…
The breakfast will be served on board at 07am. The day will begin with a guided visit of Sa Dec charming and peaceful town, walking along its narrow streets where beautiful French old houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century are numerous. You will also visit the local market and the Trung Vuong primary school where well known writer Marguerite Duras spent her childhood. Back on board your private sampan for your second day cruise in the delta. While your sampan will proceed upstream on the Mekong river to Long Xuyen, a delicious lunch will be served on board. Long Xuyen is a peaceful typical provincial town lying on the Mekong’s banks, dotted with an attractive floating market. In the afternoon, excursion to “Ong Ho” island to visit the museum of Ton Duc Thang, second president of Vietnam. At the end of the day, we will organize for you an exciting evening with your dinner arranged at a local ancient house. You will be able to share experiences with family members and learn about traditional southern lifestyle, a highlight of your journey to be kept for long time in your memory. Back on board your private sampan for the your second night on the river. The cruise will slowly continue during the night to Rach Gia.
Arrival at Rach Gia, a port town located at the southern end of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand. The breakfast will be served on board at 06:00 am and the crew will arrange a cab for guests to Rach Gia airport to catch a short flight to Phu Quoc island. Upon arrival you will be met by a driver then a private transfer to hotel. Checking into your accomodation and the remainder of the day will be at leisure.
